About
Deployment kits for people who run their own
StackSmith publishes self-hosted deployment kits. Each one wires well-known open-source services into a working Docker Compose deployment and documents how to operate it.
What a stack contains
- A
docker-compose.ymlthat starts every service in the tier. - An
.env.examplewith the settings you need to change. RUNBOOK.md- daily checks, backups, upgrades, troubleshooting.verify.sh- a health check across the services.fetch-sources.sh- pulls upstream source at pinned commits.docs/- a written guide per component.ATTRIBUTION.md- licences and exact commits.
What a stack is not
It is not hosted software and it is not a video course. You run it on infrastructure you control. The value is the integration: services chosen, wired, pinned and documented so you are not assembling them from scratch.
Requirements
Docker Engine 24+ with the Compose v2 plugin. Around 4 GB RAM for the light tiers and 16 GB or more for a complete deployment.
Licensing
Upstream components keep their own licences (MIT, Apache-2.0 or BSD-3-Clause). See the licensing page for the full list with pinned commits.
